What Is a BMI Calculator?

A Body Mass Index (BMI) calculator is a biological screening tool designed to estimate general body fatness based on an adult's height and weight. 3. Divide weight by squared height: 75 ÷ 3.24 = 23.15.

What is a healthy BMI range?

According to the World Health Organization, a healthy BMI falls between 18.5 and 24.9. Below 18.5 is classified as underweight, 25–29.9 as overweight, and 30 or above as obese. These ranges apply to adults aged 20 and older.

Is BMI accurate for athletes and muscular individuals?

BMI does not distinguish between muscle mass and fat mass. Athletes or people with significant muscle development may have a high BMI while having low body fat. In these cases, a body fat percentage measurement provides a more accurate picture of health.

How is BMI calculated with imperial units?
